TAILOR vs FACTORY

Each in it's own rite can be a great concept. It really boils down to the value an individual places on it. When it comes to hair, the concept is quite the same. Run of the mill may suit you. There's something to be said for in and out in a flash if you're in a time crunch. Maybe you could care less about a nifty style and you just need it done because it's been way too long. Or, are you looking for something a little more refined and personal? Some people notice and appreciate the subtle differences in technical ability and style and are willing to pay top dollar for it. There's no right or wrong, just what fits this person the best. Often the "factory" person has little experience outside the box. But when they see the possibilities, they have a deeper appreciation for something a little better. Ever notice how an outfit on the rack can seem amazing but something about when you put it on it's less than fantastic? Why is that?  It doesn't mean it's any less amazing, it's just not right for you. Maybe the length is wrong or the cut doesn't hang right. That's the key to our craft. It's not about doing a great technical service as much as it's about realizing those little nuisances in each style that make it "sing" instead of "mumble". I encourage people to seek out those amazing experiences and products and I believe we deliver them both at Christopher Ashley Salon. Come see for yourself.

The Path Less Traveled

Haven't had much writing inspiration lately until now. So I'm sitting in a hotel room on Facebook after finishing up this crazy awesome business seminar in California. I came across this TEDx video link (which is below) about this 13 year old kid and the way he's been educated through life experiences rather than the traditional schooling. It's very out of the box and strange right? But the more I listened to what he was saying the more I thought about how it related to the things I had actually just been learning about over the last 4 days in this seminar. I think its cool for a person or a business to recognize their needs for growth, even if it seems unorthodox to most, and go after it. After all, its quite often that safe and traditional thinking that leaves us short of our potential. If we want to have a richer life, and it doesn't have to be financially, it's important to get out of the box often and create those opportunities for growth.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome.

Watch this video to see what the mind of a 13 year old can do by thinking creatively and trusting in himself and others. It's truly inspiring and something very cool to think about.

Going The Extra Mile

Taking that extra step to reach out and offer that personal touch never goes out of style. We call back each client to check on the service and products they received from us. There's been over whelming positive feedback. It's a way for us to show we care that much as well as trouble shoot on the spot if there are any hiccups. Fortunately those are few and far between. Think how nice it is to get an actual phone call or a hand written thank you note for spending your time and money at an establishment. That's a WOW factor for sure! Just one way we make it all about you. Thanks people for all your support.

Purely Perfect

Every once in a while along comes something that is actually all it's cracked up to be. Enter the "un"shampoo known as Cleansing Creme. A truly new category in hair care that is taking the industry and heads by storm. Quite possibly the biggest breakthrough in hair dressing since the invention of hair color. What's it all about you ask? No stripping detergents or sulfates. Or...how about just one step in the shower? Strengthen and increase the brilliance of your color and health of your hair. The more you use it the better it gets. How about your color looking exactly the same instead of great in the beginning and then fading into that dull, dry palette 3 weeks later? Oh ye, did I mention it costs less than buying shampoo and conditioner. Best of all, how about your locks having that childlike feel again. DONE! That's right people, say goodbye to shampoo and conditioner. There's not a head that could deny the luxurious feel after just one use. Yes, it's great for anyone. Rejuvenation is waiting. It's not about what's in it that makes it so wonderful, but more about what's not in it. A totally environmentally friendly ingredient list that helps keeps our world a little better for the next generation. Get on the band wagon and join the revolution to "un"shampoo your hair. You won't be disappointed. Christopher Ashley Salon is the only salon in SC that has been asked to partner with If You Knew, maker of the new outrageous Purely Perfect hair care line.

Cool stuff for dudes

For all the guys tuning in, or ladies that want your men to step it up a notch, here are some hip accessory ideas for the season. Looks like pant length is getting shorter to show off your cool "kicks". Shoulder bags, scarfs, and jackets (esp. blazers) are very popular now. There are all kinds of great combos out there like blazers/sneakers or t-shirt/scarf/chukkas that we can put together. One dresses up the other or down if you flip it around. Hey, that rhymed! What's nice is that you have the option to mix it up. You don't have to be all dressy or all sloppy. And don't forget your hats and sunglasses for that extra touch of groovy.

The sneaky wedge

Here is a glimpse at some ultra trendy shoes for the season. Half sneaker half wedge and 100% funky. Could be cool if you know how to work them with the right outfit. Or maybe its all about attitude when you slide these babies on. Hmmm, they look potentially comfy but are they? One thing's for sure, there's never a shortage of new ideas.
